Integration of biomedical research and health care in the Pilsen metropolitan area

Project of the Operational Programme Johannes Amos Comenius - European Fund (ERDF).

Programme period: 2021-2027

Beneficiary: Charles University

Partners: Bioptická laboratoř s.r.o., University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, University Hospital Pilsen

Registration number: CZ.02.01.01/00/23_021/0008828

Project start date: 1 January 2025

The aim of the project is a closer integration of biomedical research and health care with optimal transfer of research findings to the clinical level and ultimately improving health care in the metropolitan area of Pilsen. Based on long-term international excellence, advanced instrumentation, and high-quality human resources, three research areas of interest have been selected: infectious diseases, including antibiotic resistance, cancer treatment, and tissue regeneration, as well as obstetrics and reproductive medicine.

The NTC is involved in the development of an advanced virtual twin for obstetrics and urogynaecology with application in clinical practice. Methodologies and algorithms for model personalization and parameterization will enable large-scale parametric studies, providing new scientific insights with the potential to optimize diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic processes. Close interdisciplinary collaboration will enable segmentation and reconstruction of pelvic organs to create representative geometric models, personalized for specific subjects.

Supported by the project “Integration of biomedical research and health care in the Pilsen metropolitan area”; reg. no. CZ.02.01.01/00/23_021/0008828) - co-funded by the European Union and by the State Budget of the Czech Republic.
